Back in 2018, a modest little idol anime called Zombieland Saga surprised everyone as one of the best new series of an already stacked year. The songs were catchy, the characters were immediately lovable, and the “zombie” element allowed for unusually complex musings on regret and what it means to be an inspiration to someone. So, now that Franchouchou is back after all this time, what do these seven undead divas and their kooky manager have to offer us? Let’s see!
Zombieland Saga (Zombie Land Saga) takes place in the prefecture of Saga, a relatively unpublicized area of Japan on the island of Kyushu, home to about 800,000 people and – in the anime, anyway – seven zombie idols whose performances are destined to make it a household name. As sort of a cross-promotion for tourism, many of the locations and events in this anime actually exist in real life: Drive-In Tori, the Kashima Gatalympics, and Arpino Stadium are just a few you can see in the first season. Today, we’ll take a closer look at five real-life Saga locations featured in the second season, Zombieland Saga: Revenge!
We’re nearing the end of the Spring 2021 anime season, but before we move on to whatever awaits us in summer, let’s take a look back at the best new waifus that we’ve been blessed with this time. We’ve got scientists, singers, schoolgirls, and so much more! Here are the 5 best Spring 2021 anime waifus!
Every single member of Franchouchou (even the permanently zombified Tae Yamada) has had at least one episode focused on them... except for one. Number 5 of the group, Meiji-era courtesan Yugiri, has been shrouded in mystery since the first season and we’re dying to see more from her than just a few interactions with her bandmates. So, what would a Yugiri-centric episode of Zombie Land Saga look like? Let’s round up the clues we have so far and speculate!
We’re big fans of the term “himbo” – derived from “bimbo”, it describes a male character who’s attractive (muscular, bishounen, or otherwise), but not exactly the sharpest katana at the anime convention. Even though these airheaded heroes are often capable of saving the day when it counts, their usual demeanor is closer to Metro Man than Megamind, if you catch our drift. Still, we just can’t help but love them. Here are the five best anime himbos!
Writing a flashback scene isn’t easy. They interrupt the flow of the current storyline, so they can come off as clunky and unnecessary if a few lines from one character could get the point across much more quickly, or if the same flashback is shown multiple times for no real reason. Likewise, the contents of the flashback must have some important effect on the main storyline (referred to as “reincorporation”) or else the entire thing feels useless.
