Japanese media tends to portray homosexual relationships as sweet and caring, but ultimately not that serious – especially once the lovebirds get old enough to graduate into “real” relationships with the opposite sex (see Hibike Euphonium, Aria, and Shin Sekai Yori). However, some newer anime are trying to change that, such as Fall 2018’s Bloom Into You and, of course, Fall 2020’s Adachi and Shimamura.
